Seatrout Mounted, Fish MountsSeatrout. Seatrout occur in the western Atlantic Ocean from New York to the Gulf of Mexico and especially from Virginia southward, particularly off the coast of North Carolina and Texas. Seatrout are an inshore schooling species and usually inhabit the shallow areas of bays and estuaries. Two large canine teeth in front of the upper jaw stand out noticeably. Seatrout are curiously attracted to noise and rate high as a food fish, however tend to spoil quickly and should be eaten soon after capture.
