The Loggerhead Sea Turtle occurs in warm tropical waters worldwide. Loggerheads were once hunted for their meat and eggs, and their shells have been used for decoration. Loggerheads are the most common sea turtle in the United States, and are found from Virginia to Texas, and are especially abundant off the coast of Florida, although records indicate the nesting rates are rapidly declining.
