Hammerhead Shark Mounts.  Hammerheads occur worldwide in warm tropical waters and in subtropical ocean currents.  They can be found inshore and offshore.  Their most distinctive feature is the location of their eyes, which are found at the ends of the hammer-shaped head.  Hammerheads fight hard when hooked, making long powerful runs.  They are viviparous and give live birth to as many as 30 or 40 young at one time.  The first known recorded fatal shark attack in U.S. waters was by a hammerhead off Long Island in 1815.  Information on hammerhead sharks, courtesy of The International Game Fish Association.
