Sailfish Mounts.  Pacific Sailfish occur in the temperate waters of the Pacific Ocean, usually near land masses.  Pacific sails are often found in "packs"-- roaming together in large groups over a large area of ocean with their dorsals fully extended upward, above the calm surface of the water.  Known to be attracted to live bait or trolling, a battle against a Pacific sailfish on light tackle is a challenge.  Often times the sailfish will tailwalk, skittering across the surface using its dorsal fin to keep it out of the water for long and exciting aerobatic runs.  Pacific Sailfish grow much larger than their cousins in the Atlantic.  These days, sailfish are released alive by sportsmen and charter captains alike.  For mounting purposes, nearly 100 percent of all sailfish mounts are release mounts and are produced without using the actual fish or any parts thereof.   For more information on sailfish, log on to The Billfish Foundation's web site at www.tbf.org.  World record information can be obtained from the International Game Fish Association, and you can visit their website by going to www.igfa.org.
