Roosterfish occur in the eastern Pacific from the Gulf of California to Peru, and is most common off Ecuador. It is an amazing inshore species and can be found over sandy bottoms, near inshore rocks and along beaches. The distinctive dorsal fin normally remains retracted in a deep groove in the fish's back, but when the Roosterfish is active, the fins rise. The flesh has a strong local commercial value. It is tasty and of good quality.
Roosterfish Mounts are available online from King Sailfish Mounts. You can even order online. KSM individually crafts each finely detailed mounted fish by hand, one-at-a-time.
