Striped Marlin Mounts.  Striped Marlin are found in tropical and warm temperate waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, and are pelagic and seasonally migratory.  The most distinguishing feature of the striped marlin is the high, pointed first dorsal fin, which normally equals or exceeds the greatest body depth.  It is highly predatory and has a reputation for spending more time in the air than in the water, when hooked.  Striped Marlin are not good to eat and are generally release alive by sportsmen.  Many first-time catches are commemorated with a release mount.  Information courtesy of The International Game Fish Association.  Visit the IGFA by logging on to www.igfa.org.  For information on conservation of striped marlin and other billfish species, log onto The Billfish Foundation at www.tbf.org.
